The Faridabad administration undertook a demolition operation early Saturday at Masjid Chowk in the NIT-3 area, clearing illegal structures to pave the way for infrastructure projects such as the RRTS corridor and an elevated road. Amidst tight security, the operation proceeded, targeting a mosque, a temple, shops, and a house.

The National Green Tribunal had ordered the removal of these structures, which hindered the proposed Gurugram-Faridabad-Noida Namo Bharat RRTS and a new elevated road. Despite prior notices to the property owners, the encroachments remained, prompting the demolition. The administration stressed that the drive is crucial for facilitating development.

The government imposed a temporary suspension of mobile internet and messaging services in the area to ensure peace. Authorities stressed the legal compliance of the operation, while local political representatives criticized the method of execution.
