A disturbing incident of suspected honour killing has emerged from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, where a 25-year-old man is accused of murdering his sister over her relationship with a local youth. The tragic event occurred on Sunday and has led to increased security in the area.
The accused, identified as Amir, allegedly opposed his sister Adiba's association with the youth, which he claimed was damaging the family reputation. This opposition culminated in a fatal argument, resulting in Amir slitting his sister’s throat. Law enforcement promptly arrived at the scene and have since recovered the murder weapon, while Adiba's body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Efforts to capture Amir are underway, with three special police teams actively seeking him. The local authorities have reinforced security in the village to prevent further unrest. Villagers noted Adiba had developed a relationship with a local boy, contrary to her family’s wishes.
