In an extensive crackdown on drug trafficking, Punjab Police have significantly disrupted the financial underpinning of narcotics networks across the state. Over the past 15 months, the campaign has led to freezing assets worth Rs 300 crore connected to 750 alleged traffickers, affecting the operations of narco-hawala syndicates.

Focusing on economic structures funding cross-border trafficking, the force has registered nearly 47,000 NDPS cases and arrested more than 65,000 suspects. Major contraband seizures include several tons of heroin and other drugs. The operation also saw aggressive targeting of clandestine hawala channels, leading to arrests and cash recoveries linked to foreign drug handlers.

To enhance its operations, the police leveraged dedicated financial investigation units in each district. A significant impact was achieved by freezing assets from money exchange operations tied to international laundering schemes. The integration of advanced technologies like AI further enhanced investigative capabilities in cracking open complex drug networks.
