The Income Tax Department, in collaboration with PwC India, hosted a webinar titled "Decoding the new Income-tax Act, 2025 - International Tax and Transfer Pricing Aspects" on 9th June 2026, bringing together over 1,100 participants from sixteen countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, China, Singapore, Cyprus, Japan, Mauritius, Qatar, and UAE. The event served as a platform for exchanging insights on India's evolving taxation framework, focusing on the implications of the new Income-tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules, 2026, and offered international stakeholders a chance to understand the practical and procedural changes affecting cross-border operations.

The session emphasised the growing importance of India's role in the global taxation ecosystem and highlighted the country's efforts in streamlining international compliance processes. Participants engaged actively with the Income Tax Department officials, seeking clarity on complex tax structures, transfer pricing mechanisms, and emerging regulatory standards that impact multinational transactions.


Key Highlights from the Department

Ms. Monica Bhatia, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation), addressed the audience, highlighting how collaboration between the Department and stakeholders contributed to a smooth transition to the new Income-tax Act. She elaborated on the significance of Advance Pricing Agreements in providing certainty for cross-border transactions and stressed the relevance of Safe Harbour provisions that simplify compliance and reduce disputes for taxpayers.

Shri Raman Chopra, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation), and Dr. Anjula Jain, Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation)-2, joined the discussion, providing detailed explanations of procedural updates and structural reforms. They shared insights into how the new rules and forms enhance transparency, provide standardized guidance for taxpayers, and align India with international best practices in taxation. The officers also addressed queries on comparative aspects between the Income-tax Act, 1961 and the Income-tax Act, 2025, ensuring participants gained a practical understanding of the changes.
