Cabinet Secretary Dr. T. V. Somanathan conducted a high-level review of preparations for the upcoming NEET re-examination, scheduled for 21st June 2026, in a meeting with the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA). The discussion focused on ensuring that the re-exam is conducted smoothly, securely, and transparently, with close coordination among all relevant stakeholders.

Dr. Somanathan emphasised the joint responsibility of the Central Government, State Governments, and district administrations to maintain the integrity of the examination process. He made it clear that any attempts to disrupt or tamper with the re-exam would face the full force of the law.

Earlier review meetings were held to assess the progress and preparedness of the arrangements. On 1st June 2026, the Cabinet Secretary met with Secretaries of the Central Government and other concerned agencies, while on 4th June 2026, he reviewed preparations with Chief Secretaries of the State Governments. These sessions were aimed at strengthening coordination, monitoring readiness, and ensuring that all operational and security measures are in place for the re-examination.
