Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 Concludes with Youth Voices Shaping India’s Future

The National Round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2026 concluded at the historic Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, bringing together 105 young participants from across India for discussions on democracy, leadership and the country's development journey towards Viksit Bharat@2047.
The two-day programme provided a platform for young leaders from different states and union territories to engage in parliamentary-style debates, raise questions on national issues and share ideas for India's future. The closing ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse, along with senior officials from the Department of Youth Affairs and MY Bharat.
Youth Encouraged to Shape India's Future
Addressing the participants, Khadse stressed the importance of involving young people in nation-building and democratic processes.
She said India's youth must become active contributors to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and use platforms such as the Youth Parliament to engage with public policy, governance and national development.
The minister also highlighted MY Bharat as an important initiative that enables young citizens to channel their aspirations, skills and ideas into meaningful action for the country.
The event reflected the government's continued focus on encouraging youth participation in democratic institutions and decision-making processes.
Winners Recognised for Parliamentary Excellence
The programme concluded with awards presented across several categories recognising outstanding performance during the parliamentary sessions.
Riya Pandey from Delhi received the award for Best Opening Speaker, while Apurva Sharma from Haryana was recognised for Best Question.
Kepozo Kapuh from Nagaland won the Best Responder award, and Sain Chirag Kumar from Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu was honoured for Best Short Discussion.
Participants had earned their places at the national event through district and state-level selection rounds, representing a diverse cross-section of India's young talent.
Discussions Focus on National Development
Throughout the programme, participants took part in Question Hour sessions, debates and thematic discussions on issues affecting the country's future.
The deliberations showcased the awareness, creativity and leadership potential of young Indians while providing them with first-hand exposure to parliamentary procedures.
A special session was delivered by Dr. Sarah Jayal Sawkmie, Director of International Cooperation, who discussed India's BRICS Chairship in 2026. She highlighted the significance of BRICS nations, which collectively represent nearly 45% of the global population, and emphasised India's demographic strength in shaping future international cooperation.
In the closing remarks, MY Bharat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Priyanka Shukla reflected on the journey of the participants, saying the programme may have started with 105 young leaders but concluded with 105 new dreams and aspirations.
The event reaffirmed the government's commitment to empowering young people as active partners in shaping India's future and contributing to the vision of a developed nation by 2047.
