Australia’s number one airlines, Qantas has expelled Senator Fraser Anning from its exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Club following yesterday’s dramatic censure motion in the Senate.

The Chairman’s Lounge is a plush waiting room, reserved for the top ranks of politics and business and membership is only offered to members of the parliament. It offers the highest level of service possible for a Qantas customer, eclipsing the airline’s Platinum One membership. The airline decided to review Anning’s access after he made extremist remarks on the Christchurch terror attack and now, he is officially out of the Club.

The government and opposition moved a motion censuring Anning, who had issued a statement just hours after the terror attack, blaming Muslim immigration. His colleagues labelled the comments ‘pathetic’ and ‘shameful’. The Christchurch terror attack had left 50 people dead.

The censure came as a searing official rebuke of Anning’s comments, a powerful piece of symbolism. But it didn’t have any effect on the senator as he didn’t stay in the chamber for the vote. He remained defiant and unapologetic and labelled the motion as a ‘witch hunt’. “This censure motion against me is a blatant attack on free speech. It is also an exercise in left-wing virtue signalling for the worst kind.”

Anning said this is exactly the kind of self-righteous, left-wing intolerance of alternative views that one would expect from an extremist party like the Greens. He added that shockingly, a Liberal prime minister is leading the charge.
