Jharkhand man gets 10-yr RI for sexually exploiting woman

A court here has sentenced a man to 10 years in rigorous imprisonment for sexually exploiting a woman in Jharkhand's Palamu district. District and Sessions Judge Satrunjay Kumar Singh handed down the sentence to 28-year-old Ravindra Oraon on Wednesday and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The convict will have to undergo another three-month term in prison if he fails to deposit the fine. The 22-year-old woman had filed a complaint of sexual exploitation against Oraon in June, 2017.
According to the complaint filed with the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Oraon maintained a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. The police had framed charges against Oraon under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Later, the CJM court transferred the case to the district and sessions court.
