China says hopes U.N. Security Council speaks with one voice on Korean Peninsula issue

China hopes the U.N. Security Council speaks with one voice on the Korean Peninsula issue, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular press conference on Tuesday.

China and Russia on Monday proposed the Security Council lift some U.N. sanctions on North Korea, but a U.S. State Department official said now was not the time.

The United States and North Korea should continue talks, said Geng. China is ready to work with all parties on a solution to the Korean Peninsula issue, he said.
