Andhra CM confident to achieve sustainable development goals by 2022
Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Feb 8 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday expressed confidence that the state under his leadership would achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2022.
Reiterating his optimism against all odds, Chief Minister Naidu said: "We will achieve SDGs by 2022. Now the per capita income is at Rs 1,24,000 in the state, which we are aiming to take to Rs 300,000."
The SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. UN has fixed 2030 as the deadline to achieve SDGs.
"We have sealed 2,624 MoUs. If all of these MoUs materialise, then 35 lakh jobs will be generated. We are focused on the skill development of our youths. Now we are number one in skill development in the country," he said in the Vidhan Sabha.
"We will make Andhra Pradesh free from malnutrition. We will provide drinking water to every household through tap connections. Andhra Pradesh will constitute a Happiness Commission," he said. "India's ranking in happiness has fallen, whereas our state's ranking has bettered," he said.
He said that micro, small and medium enterprises would be set up in all assembly constituencies. "We are going to set up 175 MSME parks, one each in all the assembly constituencies. We will brand at least 2,000 to 3,000 products and create an ecosystem for their marketing," he said.
Naidu said that internal roads in all villages will be completed by 2020 and the government will provide a QR or two-dimensional barcode for every house. He said that 25 airstrips would be constructed in all 25 parliamentary constituencies in the state.
"These airports will enable our manufacturers to export their products directly to foreign countries. The Centre cheated us by denying one seaport, but we are developing four ports now," said Chief Minister Naidu. (ANI)
