Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, announced ambitious plans to boost the city’s parking capacity, a move that seeks to accommodate around 100,000 vehicles. This development involves repurposing more than 3,000 parcels of vacant land across the capital.

During a meeting with Delhi Members of Parliament and officials from the Delhi Development Authority, Sandhu highlighted the current status of 232 ready-to-tender plots, distributed across various city zones such as Rohini, South, North, Dwarka, and East.

Beyond parking, Sandhu called for parks under DDA management to be accessible free of charge from 6 am to 10 am, focusing on integrating public use without entry fees. He emphasized confronting civic issues like unauthorized occupations, with MPs pledging cooperation in addressing these challenges.

The collaboration aims not simply to address parking and encroachment but to improve housing, land utilization, and infrastructure projects across Delhi, enhancing the execution and delivery of these civic developments.
