Yechury expects 'People's tsunami' in LS polls
CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury Wednesday remained evasive on whether his party would be part of a government if formed by regional parties after the Lok Sabha elections, saying such things can be discussed after the poll outcome. The elections were between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people, the Marxist leader said adding he expected a "People's tsunami." He did not elaborate.
"There is no need to speculate on things. Did tsunami inform you before it came... wait for the outcome. There are nine phases and nobdy knows what happens in between," he told reporters here. He was replying to repeated questions on whether the CPI-M would be part of a government if formed by the regional parties and also on who would be the prime minister in the event of the opposition parties coming to power.
Yechury welcomed the Election Commission banning the screening of the biopic on Modi. He criticised the BJP's manifesto saying it contained "tall promises" and did not mention about implementation of assurances made by it in 2014..
