Balaji Srivastava assumes office as new DGP of Pondy

Balaji Srivastava took charge as the Director General of Police of Puducherry on Wednesday. Srivastava succeeded Suindari Nanda, who had been transferred to the capital territory of Delhi.
Earlier, he was accorded a guard of honour by the territorial police. Balaji Srivastava, an 1988 batch IPS office belongs to the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union TErritories) cadre.
He went round different wings at the police headquarters including the Puducherry Police museum and was briefed by officials of the features of the wings. Before proceeding to have a courtesy call with Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and the Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, the new DGP told reporters that his priorities would include addressing the welfare of the police personnel, development of technology and also infrastructures.
He said he would have a meeting with police officers in the next few days..
