NSCN cadre nabbed with arms

Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh during a joint operation have apprehended a cadre of the NSCN (R) from Tirap district along with arms and ammunitions, defence sources said here Wednesday. Based on intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Arunachal Pradesh police in the district on Monday and apprehended the cadre, Kohima-based Defence spokesman Col Chiranjeet Konwer informed.

The cadre has been identified as self-styled lieutenant Khuliam Sumpa (36) who hails from Kheti village in the district and currently staying in Khonsa, the district headquarters. A USA made .32 mm pistol with magazine and other documents has been seized from the possession of the cadre.

The cadre along with recovered items had been handed over to the district police for further investigation. The operation is a major success by the joint team of Army and police in the district especially, to thwart any untoward incident during the Independence Day celebrations, the spokesman added..
