A devotee hailing from New Delhi on Thursday made a donation of Rs one crore to the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, also known as Lord Balaji, at Tirumala near here, a temple official said. After offering worship with family members at the shrine, Srinivasa Krishna handed over a demand draft for Rs 1 crore to a temple official and requested him to use the fund for the temple-run pilgrims free meal trust, the official told PTI.
Last week, a collective donation of Rs 14 crore was made by two US-based NRI friends for different public welfare trusts including the pilgrims free meal trust run by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that governs the shrine, the official said.
