Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai on Thursday urged the Madhya Pradesh government to set up a research centre in Jabalpur to study and teach the meditation techniques of late spiritual leader Acharya Ranjeesh 'Osho'. He was talking to reporters on the sidelines of the ongoing three-day Osho Festival here.

"I request the Madhya Pradesh government to open a big research centre or an institute in Jabalpur where meditation techniques of Acharya Ranjeesh 'Osho' will be studied and taught," Ghai said. He said meditation has great healing powers for the brain and relaxes the mind if practised regularly.

On the difference between Osho's philosophy and that of other philosophers, Ghai said, "Osho talked about the 'aam admi' (common man)." The veteran producer-director also suggested that a course on spiritual philosophy be introduced up to primary level in schools for "better upbringing" of children and their personality development. Ghai delivered a talk on meditation with reference to Osho's philosophy at the festival, organised by the state Spirituality Department, the Jabalpur Tourism Promotion Council and the district administration..
