Statistics Botswana reveals country witnessing rise in mobile internet users

The data released by Statistics Botswana claims that the mobile internet subscription continues to rise in the country.
A total of 1,65,8784 internet subscriptions were recorded, as the data shows by Statistics Botswana, during the second quarter of the previous year. The figure is said to have gone up by 5.4 percent from 1,57,4059 subscriptions registered in the first quarter of 2018.
"Out of this number, 1 605,727 were mobile internet subscriptions while the rest which was 53,057 were fixed internet subscriptions," said Statistics Botswana's General Burton Mguni.
The country, Independent Online reported, is also witnessing the rise of mobile device subscribers from 3,181,591 in the first quarter of 2018 to 3,204,139 in the second quarter of the same year. On the other hand, the on-net and off-net cell phone traffic declined by 11.3 and 5.5 percent respectively. Even the outgoing international calls from landline phones increased by 32.5 percent and those from cell phones decreased by 9.4 percent during the period under review.
