The African Development Bank will be hosting a workshop with Food Systems Action Platform (FSAP) for West Africa in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire on 20-21 June.

The workshop will bring together government representatives, international and domestic food companies, local and international financiers, farmer organizations and multilateral organizations.

The FSAP and partners' workshop will ensure participants agree on a collective value proposition for driving food systems transformation; pinpoint gaps and scale up solutions in specific value chains (rice, cassava, vegetables). The event will also enhance the capacity of FSAP partner organizations to create a collective base of value chain initiatives, and identify existing turnkey projects and innovative solutions to achieve the platform goals and objectives. It will also highlight and identify key lessons from positive practices to be incorporated in the projects, and set priorities for action, agree on key milestones and next steps to scale food systems transformation in selected value chains.

The Food Systems Action Platform was formed from a mandate by leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2018. The Leaders endorsed the development of a model of cooperation that convenes a consortium of partner organizations, leveraging diverse and complementary competencies to support new and existing value chain initiatives to scale impact.
