Israel will not agree to any temporary ceasefire with Hamas until the more than 240 hostages seized by the Islamist movement during its attack on Oct. 7 are released, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday.

"Israel refuses a temporary ceasefire that does not include the return of our hostages," he said during a televised address.
