US congratulates DR Congo President Tshisekedi on his re-election

The U.S. on Thursday congratulated Felix Tshisekedi on his re-election as president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the State Department said, while noting delays and barriers to voting on election day.

"For many, incidents of fraud and corruption raised doubts about the integrity of the results," it said. The U.S. urged Congolese authorities to hold accountable "those who attempted to undermine the will of the people."
