Senate of Cameroon’s President Marcel Niat Njifenji’s returning debunks his death rumor

Marcel Niat Njifenji, who has been President of the Senate of Cameroon since 2013, has returned to the country after a prolonged stay in Paris for health reasons.

The 84-year old Cameroonian politician was seen on a rare occasion on October 7 in Paris where he left his hospital bed to go and cast his vote during the Presidential election, as reported by Journal du Cameroun. Marcel Niat Njifenji became public in Cameroon’s capital city Yaoundé for the first time on December 4.

Due to his poor health condition, he was unable to attend multiple public events such as oath-taking occasion of Cameroon’s President Paul Biya for a new mandate. Earlier social media was flooded with the rumor that he had passed away.
