BJP national J P Nadda on Monday described the INDIA bloc as one that has ''all corrupt political parties together.'' Speaking at the end of a roadshow organised by the BJP's Puducherry here, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met the requirements of Puducherry in terms of development of infrastructure, road and rail connectivity. He said the Prime Minister was promoting politics of development and augmenting the welfare of the people.

Further, he alleged the INDIA bloc, however, had in its fold ''all corrupt political parties without caring for the welfare of the people.'' Seeking support for A Namassivayam, the BJP candidate from the lone Lok Sabha seat here, Nadda said the Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy ''is an exceedingly popular leader and has only the welfare of the people at heart. People are lucky to have such a Chief Minister.'' He said the requirements of Puducherry had been met by the NDA government at the Centre and the Prime Minister had also responded to the needs of the union territory whether it was in the field of infrastructure development, establishment of port, augmenting healthcare facilities and rail connectivity. The Chief Minister, who accompanied Nadda during the roadshow, said the previous Congress government in Puducherry had not taken any steps for the development of the union territory. ''There were frequent confrontations between the then Chief Minister and the Lt Governor.'' Rangasamy said his government had a good rapport with the Lt Governor and several schemes were implemented without hiccups. Namassivayam said if elected to the Lok Sabha, he would be the voice of the people of Puducherry and bring more schemes for the development of the Union Territory.

Earlier, during the roadshow, slogans in praise of Prime Minister Modi were raised by those who participated. Nadda waved at those who were standing on either side of the road and also standing atop buildings of business houses on the route. The participants carried BJP flags and also models of the party symbol-Lotus.
