Taiwan president-elect: China should have confidence to face our legally elected government

Taiwan President-elect Lai Ching-te said on Thursday that China should have the confidence to face the legally elected government of Taiwan, rather than only engaging with opposition parties with preconditions.

China claims democratically-governed Taiwan as its own territory, despite the strong objections of the government in Taipei.
