The Congress party on Sunday reiterated its confidence in clinching the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland and assembling the next government at the Centre.
Addressing the media, AICC Nagaland in-charge Girish Chodankar dismissed exit poll predictions as 'imaginary', asserting that the true picture will emerge in the next two days.
Chodankar pressed that 'India has voted against fake promises, misgovernance, unemployment, price rise, and inflation,' and expressed certainty that the Congress will defy exit poll forecasts.
Having arrived in Kohima the previous evening, Chodankar outlined at an extended executive meeting that Congress will participate in urban local body elections set for June 26.
Apart from eastern Nagaland, Congress intends to contest in most wards across three municipalities and 36 town councils. Should the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation change its stance on the polls, Congress plans to field candidates there too.
State Congress president S Supongmeren Jamir announced that aspirants seeking to run on a Congress ticket can submit their applications until June 7.
