As Tamil Nadu and Puducherry brace for the results of the June 4 Lok Sabha elections, officials confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the counting of votes are in place. The process, set to commence at 8 am, will see 39 counting centres across Tamil Nadu coming alive with activity.

Postal ballots will be the first to be counted before votes cast in electronic voting machines are taken up by 8.30 am. Nearly 40,000 personnel have been mobilized to ensure smooth proceedings, with about one lakh police personnel and 15 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces guaranteeing security.

In Tamil Nadu, where a turnout of 69.72 percent was recorded, 950 candidates are vying for seats. The ruling DMK and its allies are projected to perform well, while the AIADMK is expected to offer stiff competition in select constituencies. Exit polls suggest a similar competitive landscape in Puducherry, where key political figures V Vaithilingam of Congress and BJP's A Namassivayam are the main contenders for the lone Lok Sabha seat.
