In a dramatic twist in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Left parties have shown notable improvement, leading in eight to 10 seats as per counting trends observed by noon. The CPI(M), which previously held only three seats in the 17th Lok Sabha, has emerged as a surprising force with leads in five key parliamentary constituencies.

Furthermore, in Tamil Nadu, CPI(M) candidates are leading in the Madurai and Dindigul constituencies, while in Kerala's Alathur, K Radhakrishnan is ahead by more than 15,936 votes compared to Congress's Ramya Haridas. However, close contests persist in other regions.
The performance spread across different states includes standout leads for CPI and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation in Tamil Nadu and Bihar respectively, with their candidates making significant strides in voter share. The Left parties have collectively surpassed their 2019 vote shares, marking a pivotal moment in their political resurgence.
