Newly elected Samajwadi Party MP from Faizabad, Awadhesh Prasad, launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Thursday, accusing it of not being the 'real' follower of Lord Ram and of exploiting His name for political gain. Prasad's comments came after he defeated BJP's Lallu Singh by 54,567 votes in the prestigious Faizabad seat, home to the grand Ram temple constructed in Ayodhya on the orders of the Supreme Court and consecrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22.
'The BJP did politics in the name of Ayodhya. They have worked against the dignity of Maryada Purushottam Ram,' Prasad told PTI-Videos, adding that the public has seen through the BJP's false slogans. 'Ram is in everyone's heart. He is the center of everyone's faith. The BJP were doing politics in the name of Ram and have cheated the country,' he said.
Prasad, who describes himself as a 'real' Ram bhakt, criticized the BJP for failing to uphold the values of Ram Rajya, pointing to issues like inflation and unemployment. He also condemned the BJP's Agnipath recruitment scheme, promising that his party would abolish it once their INDIA bloc government is formed.
