With Ramvir Singh Bidhuri elected to the Lok Sabha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) must now appoint a new Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. The task falls upon selecting a successor from the remaining seven BJP MLAs.

Potential candidates being considered for the position include Mohan Singh Bisht, Ajay Mahawar, and Vijender Gupta. Mahawar, representing Ghinda in northeast Delhi, served as convener of the Delhi BJP's poll management committee and is the BJP's chief whip in the assembly. Bisht, representing Karwal Nagar in northeast Delhi, boasts five legislative terms, lending weight to his experience. Gupta, the MLA from Rohini, previously held the Leader of Opposition post.

The new Leader of Opposition will have a relatively short tenure of six to seven months, with Delhi assembly elections scheduled for early next year. Meanwhile, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) retains a strong presence with 62 MLAs in the 70-member House.
