In a significant political development, two staunch supporters of ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam have announced their departure from his faction. Speaking at a press conference, former legislator J C D Prabhakar and V Pugazhendhi criticized Panneerselvam's chosen path and urged for a unified AIADMK to secure victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.
The duo, now aligning with ex-AIADMK leader K C Palanisami, revealed plans to form a new coordination committee aimed at merging the splintered AIADMK factions. They appealed to both Edappadi K Palaniswami and Panneerselvam to put differences aside for the greater good of the party.
Pugazhendhi underscored the necessity of restoring the party's image, lamenting the unprecedented decline in vote share and calling for a return to power. Palanisami echoed the sentiment, stating that the recent elections were a lesson in the importance of unity. The coordination committee vows to engage key players, including V K Sasikala, to achieve this goal.
