On Monday, NCP MP Supriya Sule voiced her lack of surprise at the Ajit Pawar-led NCP not securing a berth in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new cabinet. Speaking during the 25th foundation anniversary of the NCP, founded by her father Sharadchandra Pawar, Sule took the opportunity to underscore the importance of a complete loan waiver for farmers as the NDA conducts its first cabinet meeting.
Sule highlighted the camaraderie and respect that characterized past alliances, such as during the UPA regime when the NCP held cabinet positions under Manmohan Singh's administration, despite having a smaller number of MPs. She contrasted this with the BJP's approach over the past decade, criticizing its 'one size fits all' mentality. She cited Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis's recent comments, noting that the NCP declined an offer for a minister of state position with independent charge and preferred to wait for a full cabinet berth.
The NCP has faced electoral struggles recently, winning just one of the four Lok Sabha seats it contested. Sule's appeal features prominently as she urged the NDA government to establish a stable administration and address pressing agricultural issues, including loan waivers and commodity pricing.
