The Kremlin said on Thursday that nobody should doubt Russia's right to develop closer ties with North Korea, saying the potential for the two countries' relationship was very deep. Russia's Vedomosti newspaper on Monday reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin would visit North Korea and Vietnam in the coming weeks.

Putin's visit to North Korea is expected to take place in a few days, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported early on Thursday, citing a senior official at the presidential office. The Kremlin on Thursday declined to supply a date for a possible visit.
