Senior JD(U) leader Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha has officially filed his nomination papers for the Bihar legislative council by-election, a move prompted by the disqualification of an RJD MLC.
The nomination was submitted at the Vidhan Sabha secretariat in the presence of key NDA leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who also leads the JD(U). Among the attendees were Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha from the BJP, and state minister Santosh Kumar Suman of Hindustani Awam Morcha.
Adding to the event's significance, former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha, whose Rashtriya Lok Morcha had initially shown reservations about Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha's candidature, also turned up. The RLM was reportedly eyeing the seat as part of a pre-election agreement with the BJP but now looks forward to securing a Rajya Sabha seat instead.
