BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Tuesday raised a notice in the Lok Sabha, highlighting alleged inaccuracies in the speech by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
Upon being queried by Speaker Om Birla, Swaraj reiterated that Gandhi made certain 'inaccurate' statements in his Monday speech, urging the Chair to acknowledge her notice.
Following Gandhi's speech on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address, Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress leader of presenting 'untruthful' claims on various issues, such as the Agnipath scheme and the compensation for Ayodhya locals.
According to Direction 115 of the Speaker, a member who wishes to highlight a mistake or inaccuracy in statements made by another can write to the Speaker before bringing it up in the House. The member should provide evidence supporting their allegation, and the Speaker may then notify the relevant minister or member for factual verification.
Significant portions of Rahul Gandhi's speech were removed from parliamentary records early this morning.
