Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, announced that it remains uncertain if Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif and another senior commander were eliminated in a recent Israeli strike in Gaza. However, he pledged to continue pursuing Israel's military objectives.

Netanyahu asserted during a televised news conference that heightened military pressure would improve chances of negotiating the return of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. This followed an Israeli military operation targeting Deif and senior commander Rafa Salama based on precise intelligence.

Palestinian health officials reported that the strike resulted in at least 90 Palestinian deaths and around 300 injuries in Al Mawasi, a designated humanitarian zone. The Israeli military stated the strike hit a military compound but could not confirm casualty figures.

Speaking amid protests in Tel Aviv urging more action to retrieve hostages from Gaza, Netanyahu reiterated that military pressure on Hamas is essential for reaching an agreement. He assured that he would adhere strictly to Israel's core demands without yielding.

"I haven't moved a millimetre from the framework that President Biden presented," said Netanyahu. "But I am also not letting Hamas move a millimetre."
