A 12-hour bandh in Tripura, initiated by the Left Front in response to the murder of CPI(M) Zilla Parishad candidate Badal Shill, failed to garner widespread support on Sunday. Despite the bandh, shops remained open, and vehicles continued to ply the streets without interruption.

The police confirmed the absence of any untoward incidents linked to the bandh. 'Normal life across the state has not been disturbed due to the 12-hour bandh called by the Left parties on Sunday. There has been no picketing or gathering in support of the bandh. Movement of vehicles on streets and train service remained normal while shops and markets were also functioning normally,' explained Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Ananta Das.

In anticipation of potential unrest, additional police forces were deployed in key areas. Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee accused the CPI(M) of attempting to politicize the death of their party leader ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections in the state.
