The PML-N government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against the decision to allocate reserved seats to the PTI, led by former prime minister Imran Khan. The July 12 ruling allows PTI to gain 23 reserved seats, making it the largest party in the National Assembly. The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has officially challenged the Supreme Court's decision to allocate reserved seats to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The PML-N filed a review petition on Monday, less than a week after the court ruled that PTI was eligible for these seats, which are reserved for women and minorities in both the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.

In a major July 12 judgment, a 13-member full court ruled in favor of PTI, giving the party a significant boost. Following the ruling, PTI is set to become the largest party in the National Assembly, with its seats expected to rise from 86 to 109. This development has stoked political tensions, with the PML-N accusing the Supreme Court of not adhering to legal protocols in its decision.

The latest controversy comes amid statements from Information Minister Atta Tarar about possibly banning Imran Khan’s PTI for alleged anti-state activities. Such a move could deepen the already significant political and economic instability in Pakistan.
