In a shocking incident that has sent ripples across Bihar, the father of former state minister Mukesh Sahni was tragically found stabbed to death at his home in Darbhanga district, according to top police officials.
Jitendra Singh Gangwar, ADG (Headquarters), reported that two suspects are in custody based on CCTV footage from the vicinity. 'They appeared suspicious, but we are exploring all possible angles,' he stated, withholding the detainees' identities.
An STF team, forensic experts, and a dog squad have been deployed to aid local police. Suspicious items include 'liquid in three glasses' found in the room with blood spattered everywhere. The deceased had deep chest and abdomen wounds, and the body has been sent for post mortem.
Sahni, a former Bollywood technician and leader of Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP), was in Mumbai when informed. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other high-ranking politicians, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RJD president Lalu Prasad, have extended their condolences.
On his way to Darbhanga, Sahni acknowledged the support but avoided questions about potential motives. The murder has sparked a political blame game, with opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav criticizing the NDA government for failing to curb crime in Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi and other leaders demanded swift justice, while BJP leaders assured stringent measures. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai emphasized the gravity of the incident, vowing justice for Sahni's family. Condolence messages also poured in from leaders like Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Manjhi dismissed opposition criticisms, asserting that such crimes were unimaginable under Nitish Kumar's rule, contrasting it with the criminal activities during RJD's tenure.
