Xi Jinping Mourns Vietnamese Leader's Death

Trong, who died on Friday, led Vietnam for 13 years, fostering economic growth and improving foreign relations. Last year, he hosted both Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden in Hanoi.

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Vietnamese embassy on Saturday to mourn the death of Vietnam's Communist Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Trong, who passed away on Friday, held Vietnam's most powerful position for 13 years. During his tenure, he oversaw rapid economic development, a sustained anti-corruption drive, and maintained a pragmatic foreign policy.
Trong's diplomatic efforts included hosting both Xi and U.S. President Joe Biden in Hanoi last year, strengthening Vietnam's ties with both China and the United States amid rising tensions between the two superpowers.
