Governor Nominates Azharuddin and Kodandaram as MLCs Amidst Controversy

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has nominated former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and retired professor M Kodandaram as Members of the Legislative Council under the governor's quota. The nomination, delayed due to legal challenges and political discussions, comes as Azharuddin must be elected to the legislature soon.

In a significant move, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has given the green light to the nomination of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and retired professor M Kodandaram as Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) under the governor's quota.

The decision, announced via a government order, ends months of political maneuvering and speculation regarding these appointments. Azharuddin, who was sworn in as Minister for Minority Welfare on October 31 last year, is required to secure a legislative seat by April 30 to maintain his ministerial position.

This development also marks the culmination of deliberations between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the governor, held on April 19, amidst pending court cases that have challenged previous nominations during the BRS regime.
