Activist Manoj Jarange has suspended his five-day-old fast after his community expressed their desire for him to stay alive and continue fighting for the Maratha reservation cause, heating up the quota politics ahead of Maharashtra's assembly polls.
The BJP responded by accusing Jarange of working as a 'proxy' for the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Jarange made the announcement to suspend his fast while addressing the media in Jalna district.
With significant electoral implications, Jarange criticized BJP leaders, including Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, alleging false accusations against him. The Maratha quota movement continues with upcoming district meetings and a major gathering on August 29.
