Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) announced a series of protests across Tamil Nadu in response to perceived neglect in the Union Budget 2024. Slated for July 27, the protests aim to highlight the alleged discrimination against the state.
DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of prioritizing the interests of parties that bolster his grip on power over the welfare of the electorate. Maran pointed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's inclusive approach as a better model for governance.
Adding to the criticism, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the Union Budget unfairly favored Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, benefitting states that support the BJP-led government. Presenting the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced significant infrastructural boosts for these states.
