Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday condemned the 'insult' of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi, terming it harmful for democracy.

Raut argued that muting the microphone of a chief minister doesn't align with democratic norms, stressing the need to address various state issues. Banerjee, the sole opposition figure at the meeting, alleged her microphone was turned off after five minutes, while other chief ministers were given more time.

The government, however, denied these claims, stating Banerjee had exceeded her speaking time. Highlighting the people’s money collected as taxes, Raut also criticized the ruling alliance in Maharashtra for returning empty-handed from the Centre. He further commented on the NCP leader Sharad Pawar's remarks on Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
