Iran Warns Israel of Consequences Amid Tensions with Hezbollah

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stark warning to Israel, asserting that any attack on Lebanon will result in dire consequences for the Israeli state. This statement was made during a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, as reported by Iran's state media on Monday.

The warning follows an incident where Israeli authorities accused the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah of launching a rocket that struck a football ground in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, resulting in the deaths of 12 children and teenagers. Hezbollah, however, has denied any involvement in the attack. Pezeshkian stated, "Any possible Israeli attack on Lebanon will have serious consequences for Israel."

During their discussion, Pezeshkian also expressed a desire to enhance relations with France based on mutual trust. On the same day, Macron held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as France aims to prevent further escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Macron reaffirmed France’s commitment to de-escalation efforts and communicated this resolve to all parties involved.
