The United States announced a new security assistance package for Ukraine valued at up to $200 million, according to White House national security spokesman John Kirby. The package includes essential air defenses and anti-tank weapons.

Kirby stated that the package consists of presidential drawdown authority to provide Ukraine with key capabilities, notably air defense interceptors, munitions for U.S.-provided HIMARS, artillery and mortar rounds, as well as javelin anti-tank missiles. The Department of Defense will also deploy significant funds to bolster Ukraine's long-term defenses.

Ukrainian officials have been pressing allies for additional air defense systems to counter frequent Russian missile and drone attacks. The U.S. has provided over $50 billion in military aid to Ukraine since 2022. There are concerns about the future of this support should Donald Trump win the upcoming presidential election. The Ukrainian defense ministry thanked the U.S. for its unwavering support.
