Vice President Kamala Harris is set to hold her first rally with her new vice presidential nominee on Tuesday, August 6, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This event will kick off a four-day battleground tour that includes Michigan and Arizona, according to the campaign team. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro appears to be a top contender for the position, signaling that the Harris campaign views Pennsylvania as a crucial state to win again in the upcoming election.

Following the Philadelphia rally, Harris and her vice presidential pick will visit six other locations, including western Wisconsin, Detroit, and Las Vegas. Although the campaign has emphasized that no decision has been made yet regarding the running mate, sources suggest an announcement could be imminent, potentially by Monday.

The short list of candidates includes Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, U.S. Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. Eric Holder Jr., the former attorney general, is overseeing the vetting process. Harris faces an August 7 deadline to finalize her decision, with candidates actively auditioning for the role through public appearances and campaign stops.
