Magnus Brunner Nominated as Austria's European Commissioner

Brunner is set to succeed Johannes Hahn, the current commissioner for budget and administration.

Austria's conservative-led coalition government has nominated Finance Minister Magnus Brunner as its next European Commissioner, Chancellor Karl Nehammer announced on social media platform X on Wednesday.

Nehammer lauded Brunner as an experienced government politician with high-level expertise in finance, economic, and competition policy, both at the national and European levels.

Brunner will take over from Johannes Hahn, who currently oversees the European Union's budget and administration.
