On Wednesday, BJP veteran Gulab Chand Kataria took oath as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, declaring that these roles go beyond ceremonial duties and are meant for public service.
Addressing reporters post-ceremony, Kataria, who replaces Banwarilal Purohit, shared his plans to visit border areas and review the state government's works. Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu administered the oath of office at Raj Bhavan.
Kataria, aged 79, emphasized his commitment, stating that he will strive to serve the people effectively, adhering to his principle of service. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann lauded him as an experienced leader with a wealth of knowledge, previously holding several significant roles including two terms as Rajasthan's home minister.
