In a historic diplomatic move, India is gearing up to establish an embassy in Dili, Timor-Leste, signifying a stronger bilateral relationship. This was confirmed by a top official from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday.
Similarly, Timor-Leste has also conveyed its intentions to open an embassy in New Delhi, a gesture warmly received by the Indian government. "This Delhi-Dili connection will only get stronger after the two embassies are opened," remarked MEA Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar.
The announcement comes ahead of President Droupadi Murmu's six-day visit to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste starting on August 5, further aiming to deepen diplomatic ties with these nations.
