K Ramakrishnan Elected as New Mayor of Tirunelveli
DMK candidate K Ramakrishnan, known as 'Kittu', was elected as the new Mayor of Tirunelveli corporation, securing 30 votes. His rival, former colleague Paulraj, received 23 votes. The election saw one vote being rejected and AIADMK councillor Jeganathan abstaining. Ramakrishnan, known for his simplicity, pledged to upgrade the corporation.

DMK candidate K Ramakrishnan, alias 'Kittu', has been elected as the new Mayor of Tirunelveli corporation on Monday.
Ramakrishnan secured 30 votes out of the 55-member council in the indirect election, defeating his rival, councillor Paulraj, who received 23 votes. One vote was rejected, and AIADMK councillor Jeganathan abstained from voting.
Former Mayor P M Saravanan, who resigned in July, arrived late but was allowed to vote after explaining the delay to the returning officer. Ramakrishnan, known for his simplicity and use of a bicycle, stated his priority would be to upgrade the Tirunelveli corporation.
