Democrat Kamala Harris is leading Republican Donald Trump in the race for the upcoming U.S. presidential election, according to a recent Ipsos poll. The survey, published on Thursday, shows Harris holding a 42% to 37% advantage over Trump.
This poll, which included responses from 2,045 U.S. adults between August 2 and August 7, indicates that Harris has widened her lead since a previous Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in late July. In that earlier poll, Harris was ahead by 37% to Trump's 34%.
Additionally, the latest survey reports a decline in support for independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., who now stands at 4%, down from 10% in July. The poll, conducted online with a margin of error of around 3 percentage points, also shows Harris ahead by a narrow 42% to 40% margin in key battleground states where the 2020 election was closest.
